Before I came to Shenzhen, I lived 4 years in Beijing, and I was highly dependent on laowai-friendly stores like Jenny Lou and April‘s Gourmet.

Now I‘ve been here for 3 months and during all this time, I‘ve had no cheese at all, except for that awful parmesan that comes in a green tube :-P

I tried Jusco (a few varieties of bad, industrially-processed, ultra-expensive crap) and Wal-Mart (no cheese at all).

Are there any places you people use?

If that matters, I‘m in Luohu.

Try The Butchers Shop in Shekou, right next to McCawleys - huge range of different international cheeses at very reasonable prices. There is a lot of shops around Shekou where you can buy overpriced processed cheese from, but the Butchers has a lot of different stuff, as well the standard cheddars etc. They will even source something for you if they don‘t have it...

Good places to buy cheese: Carefour and Olé.Ole‘s! They have cheese on the block; lots of different varieties. try Ole in MixC the French supermarket, you can at least find a small variety, I dont know what u call expensive but its truly much more expensive compared to Europe etc.... but u should really forget to think this way :)

There‘s one in the holiday plaza by window to the world. Get off the metro at shi jie zhi chuang (世界之窗) exit A go into the mall and you‘ll find it no problem.
