Hey anybody know a good place in Shenzhen to relax and meet new people? (No loud music please).

I‘ve been in SZ for two years now and have made far too few friends. Perhaps it is because I am not so much into the whole "partying" thing?

Anyone up for Frisbee, or non-gambling type card games, or just chillin‘ out and talkin‘?

Anyone?

hey-easy place to meet people sometimes is at a starbucks-they are all over. maybe because of the olympics many people stay in and watch and not go to the park today. sorry i missed the dinner offer, hope you found someone great

Met an Austrian at a bar & watched football, so everything turned out a‘ight.

It is really difficult for me to initiate conversations, but once I get past the first ‘hello‘ I find I can get along with most people.

suppose living in Baoan makes it a little more difficult. Personally, I think Shekou is the best place for xpates to live (of course not everyone would agree) has a large xpat community, good coffee, good food and good bars.
Of course if you aren‘t into noise then the bar option is a little more restricted.
We have people coming to watch the olympic on the big screen and chat during the week but friday and saturday can get noisy after 10pm when the live music starts.
anyway, hope you achieve your goal in developing your circle of friends.

You can go to Lychee Park on Sunday afternoons. They have an English speaking gathering there with around 100 in attendence, where they just chit-chat. Not to far from them are people playing the traditional Chinese instruments, also singers and dancers.

This might be what you are looking for.
