Hi and thank you for giving me the reassurance to live in Futian. We found a place today which we like a lot. It‘s on Fuzhong Road and the apartment is called Le Park (not sure what the chinese name is). Haven‘t walked around the area but the apartment will be facing the new Financial Centre.

That place is really nice, safe and secure. Some expats I know who also work in the same company I work for lives there. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for.

I, and quite a number of expats, live in Huang Ting Shi Jie. It‘s on Yitian Lu, south of Binhe Lu. It‘s also relatively inexpensive.

I would certainly not prefer to live in Shekou (shit snake pit as I prefer to call it). Sherkou is so...1990s. It is the dead end cul-de-sac of Shenzhen. ;-)
I live in Futian close to Xiang Mi Hu metro station. I like this area. It is very quite and peaceful around my home with many small parks and decent small to medium shops, I am a short walk to the metro, and only one or two stops away from the Coco Park and Central Walk areas.
I am sure there are many other fine areas, but this is where I have lived for five years, and truly enjoy it.
Good Luck in finding a place!

Yes, the areas around Xiang Mi Hu and Che Gong Miao subway stations are quite nice.
