I think you have enough information on how to get to Hong Kong, but I wanted to confirm what Long Duk Dong (great name) said. If you are traveling through China I would subtract any time you have planned for Shenzhen and use it in a different place. In my mind 3 days is enough for Hong Kong. I think as a tourist visiting Shenzhen is a waste of time. Shenzhen is a 100% business city, there is no culture or anything of interest here for a tourist. I am not being negative about the city; it is a great place for business, but it is not a tourist destination. Hope you have an enjoyable and exciting holiday travel. Take Care!

Ferry is far more easier to HK, Customs is a breeze and you can go directly to Kowloon, HK Island or HKIA, that is if you are in Shekou! Otherwise Futian border crossing is better than Luohu and it‘s open 24/7.

Thanks for all the info. We‘re still not sure where we are staying in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. We‘ll only have 2-3 days in each city so we want to spend minimal time traveling.

Take taxi to Lok Ma Chao, many buses and cars to take you to everywhere, it‘s little busy during weekend or vacation.
Take taxi to Shenzhen Wan, not many people there, fast,, and then take bus to Hong kong.
Take taxi to Shekou, take boat,,
Take metro to Lok Ma Chao or Luo Hu is still OK.
many ways to Hong kong from Shenzhen, check it in the hotel is great, too.

You can get there by all 3 means of major transport. The Ferry, bus and the train. I have used them all and i find the Train to be the worst for me. I personally recon the Bus from Shenzhen custom bay the easiest and cheapest way of getting there. They have buses that go to all different parts of hong kong and they depart like every hour. Its only about 45RMB for a ticket. Of course the ferry is also easy but thats around 125RMB for a ticket...either way will get you to hong kong, but for me the bus from shenzhen custom bay is the best.

It‘s more simple than you can imagine. The Shenzhen subway takes you to one of two border crossings. After that you walk on the Hong Kong Subway. Couldn‘t be easier.

I like going through Lok Ma Chao (sp) border crossing.. Its bigger, CLEANER, and isnt AS crowded as the others.
As seymour said, going to HK from SZ is not an issue..
